Hotel El Castellano is right in the heart of downtown Merida, just two blocks from the Cathedral, the House of Montejo and the Governor’s Palace, and very close to the turn-of-the-century mansions of the Paseo de Montejo and all the major sites (see hotels in Merida). It is only 15 minutes from the airport and 8 minutes from the city bus terminal. The city of Merida was founded on 1542 by Francisco de Montejo “El Mozo” (the young) on the site of the Mayan city of T’ho.
