The structures at these ruins, perched atop enormous rectangular platforms facing the lake, have become important symbols of Purepecha urban architecture. On the platforms lie five pyramids, which house temples dedicated to the gods. Open daily from 10:00 to 5:00. Ihuatzio. This is one of the region’s most important archaeology in mexico, due to the historical relevance of the Tarascan culture. At the Plaza de Armas you can see two pyramids, known as yacatas, which were built on a huge rectangular platform.
