In addition to enjoying the fabulous waters off the Baja California coast, visitors can attend cultural events. Torneo de Pesca Dorado La Paz – This fishing tournament, held in June, is one of the most awaited sporting events in the world. During the competition, participants compete to catch the largest dorado, one of the most abundant fish species in the Sea of Cortez (see fishing in La Paz). Torneo de Pesca Bisbee’s La Paz – This event, which is organized by Bisbee’s, takes place in September. The fishing tournament draws numerous competitors from Mexico and the United States who compete to catch the largest dorado, tuna and marlin.
