Means of Transport in Mexico: First Class Chepe Train Runs Daily from Chihuahua to Los Mochis

Posteado el Abril 26, 2007 - Categorizado en Barrancas del Cobre Chihuahua, Chihuahua Mexico, Cuauhtemoc, El Chepe Train Chihuahua, El Fuerte, Los Mochis Sinaloa, Means of Transport in Mexico, Mexico Tourism, Sinaloa Mexico

For an interesting road trip through Mexico’s Copper Canyon, catch the “El Chepe” Train in Chihuahua City, located 950 miles northwest of Mexico City. The train stops in quaint towns along the way, like Creel, Divisadero and El Fuerte, until reaching its final destination of Los Mochis in Sinaloa, 10 hours later.

Leaving everyday at 6:00 AM from Chihuahua to Los Mochis and Los Mochis to Chihuahua, this breathtaking journey is a great way to see Chihuahua’s major attraction, the Barrancas del Cobre (Copper Canyon), four times larger and deeper than the Grand Canyon, located on the steepest part of the western range of the Sierra Madre Occidental Mountains. Riding the Pacific-Chihuahua Railway (El Chepe) is the best way to experience the natural marvel of this region, extending all the way to Los Mochis in Sinaloa State.

On the way to Los Mochis, the train will stop in Cuauhtemoc, the largest apple producing region in Mexico and also home to the biggest Mennonite community in the world (farmers of German descent with strong religious values), as well as El Fuerte, an old colonial mining town with lush vegetation and a central plaza.Source:visitmexicopress.com
