Casa Cid de Le贸n has easily the largest suites in downtown Oaxaca. Each is extravagantly decorated in colonial style, with a few modern touches and fresh-cut flowers. The one that garners the most attention (La Bella Epoca) has three balconies facing the street and a large sitting room. The two-story, two-bathroom suite (El M铆o Cid) would be perfect for a family. One of the downstairs suites, La Dominica, is my favorite for its space and comfort. Guests have access to a rooftop terrace. The location, 2 blocks north of the z贸calo, is excellent, and Se帽ora Cid de Le贸n is a most accommodating hotel owner. The hotel offers custom tours of the city and surrounding valley.

Marriott International Inc. will add a 209-room hotel in Tijuana, Mexico under a franchise agreement with Turismo Tijuana, S.A. de C.V., a subsidiary of Grupo Diaz, a large Mexican holding company.
The hotel recently underwent an extensive renovation and is currently operating under Grupo Diaz’s proprietary name, Emporio Hotels. It will be re-branded the Tijuana Marriott Hotel in May 2007, following completion of some interior work to meet Marriott brand standards, and will be the second Marriott International hotel in Tijuana.
The hotel is situated in the Colonia Aviacion district of Tijuana, close to Zona Rio, the city’s financial and business district, next to one of Tijuana’s premier country clubs and golf courses.
‘We’re delighted by our growing multi-brand portfolio of hotels in Mexico,’ said Ed Fuller, president and managing director of international lodging at Marriott. ‘With the addition of this impressive hotel, we will have 14 hotels and six brands available to travelers when they make their travel plans to Mexico.’
Speaking for Grupo Diaz, Board Chairman Constantino Diaz Estrada said, ‘We are very pleased to work with Marriott in Tijuana and to be able to have access to the world’s best hotel management systems. We see enormous potential for an international leading brand like Marriott to have a positive influence on Tijuana’s marketplace, and we are glad to be a part of this. As owners, we feel very proud of the hotel product we have developed with Marriott in Tijuana and are certain our customers will be very pleased.’
For dining and entertainment, the Tijuana Marriott will have an all-day casual restaurant serving three meals daily and offering outdoor terrace seating, a martini and tapas bar and a lobby lounge.
Recreational amenities will include a heated outdoor swimming pool and a fitness center. Among other amenities that will be offered are in-room coffee service, DVD player, safe, iron and ironing board and mini-fridge, 24-hour room service and business center, drexel heritage, high-speed Internet access, and a gift and sundries shop.
For conferences and social events, the Tijuana Marriott will have 951 square meters of space including a 463-square meter ballroom, a 269-square meter junior ballroom, and 5 additional meeting rooms in varying configurations.
In 2008, Marriott International will open the 200-room Courtyard by Marriott Cancun International Airport in Mexico.
