Mexico City’s Christmas Festival (Festival Navideño de la Ciudad de México) fills the main squares, streets and cultural venues of the city with jubilant crowds, who enjoy a week of live music leading up to Christmas Eve.

Gospel, jazz, blues, funk, pop and Latin tunes roar out from el Zócalo, el Monumento a la Revolución, Plaza Gante, la Alameda Central and Teatro de la Ciudad, among other locations.Please visit the De Fiesta en el D.F. Mexico Festivals and Celebrations: Carnaval

Mexico has two particularly notable celebrations. Festivities in Veracruz fill the 3 days before Ash Wednesday, with fabulous floats, dancing in the plaza, and live entertainment. Mexico Festivals: Eco-festival in Huatulco

The Mexican city of Huatulco, in southwest Oaxaca State, will host, the 2007 Music for the Earth Festival from Thursday through Sunday to raise funds to preserve the environment.

This 13th edition, with artists from Chile, Argentina, Spain and Mexico, is held to publicize the importance of protecting the environment and endangered species.

Besides the concerts and freeing turtles and iguanas, the Music for the Earth Environmental Award will be given to Dr. Valeria Souza, of Mexico s National Autonomous University s Ecology Institute, for her work to preserve Cuatrocienegas lakes in Coahuila State.

Oaxaca Tourism Secretary Beatriz Rodriguez noted that Huatulco was chosen to host the festival as winner of the international “Green Globe” ecosystem certification.Source:plenglish.com
