Tzintzuntzan. Located 15 km (9 mi) northeast of Patzcuaro, off Highway 120 in the direction of Quiroga. The structures at these ruins, perched atop enormous rectangular platforms facing the lake, have become important symbols of Purepecha urban architecture. On the platforms lie five pyramids, which house temples dedicated to the gods. Open daily from 10:00 to 5:00. Ihuatzio.
